About
the artist
Les
Blacklock, 1921-1995, was a pioneer in color nature
photography. His first book, The Hidden Forest,
published in 1969, launched the current era of nature
coffee table books. Les was also an advocate for the
wilderness. As a consulting naturalist he designed over
30 park and nature centers around the country, and was a
co-founder of Blacklock Nature Sanctuary in Moose Lake,
MN.
